About OmniFonts

Last updated: January 10, 2025

OmniFonts is a free, browser-based font and typography platform. It brings together over 90 professional tools — font generators, format converters, typography calculators, font analysis utilities, developer helpers, and a curated font library — in one cohesive interface. Everything runs in your browser. No account is required, no file is uploaded to a server, and no feature is gated behind payment.

What we build

OmniFonts exists to solve a specific problem: professional typography tools are either expensive, slow, fragmented across dozens of sites, or — in the case of many "font converters" — outright fake. A tool that renames a TTF file to .woff2 and calls it conversion is not a tool. It is a lie wrapped in a download button.

We build real tools. Every converter parses the source font structure with a proper OpenType engine and produces a valid output file. Every calculator uses published formulas. Every generator produces characters that are actually Unicode code points — not images, not renamed text. When a tool cannot do something (like identifying a font from a photograph), we say so instead of inventing a fake feature.

How we handle your data

OmniFonts does not collect your font files, text inputs, or personal information. Font conversions, analysis, and generators all run entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript and WebAssembly. Files never leave your device.

The only data stored locally in your browser is user preference: theme choice, favorites in the font library, and preview text for the library search. These are stored in localStorage and can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser data. Nothing is transmitted to a server.

Optional analytics are disabled by default and only run if you explicitly grant consent. See the Privacy Policy for full details on data handling.

Editorial standards

Articles and guides are researched, written, and reviewed by the OmniFonts editorial team against primary sources: the Unicode Standard, the OpenType specification, the W3C CSS Fonts Module, and WCAG 2.2. Every technical claim is verified against real browser behaviour before publication. We do not fabricate authors, credentials, statistics, or citations. See the Editorial Policy for details.

Technology

OmniFonts is built with HTML5, CSS3, and vanilla JavaScript. It is deployed as a static site on Cloudflare Pages. Font conversion, analysis, and generation run in Web Workers and WebAssembly to keep the main thread responsive. No backend, no database, no server-side processing is required or used.

Licensing

Fonts in the OmniFonts library are distributed under open licenses — SIL Open Font License 1.1 or Apache 2.0 — that permit free commercial and personal use. Each font's license is displayed on its detail page and must be respected when you deploy the font. See the Licensing page for details, including attribution requirements and redistribution terms.
