Frequently asked questions

Should I include a fallback font-family?

Always. End every font-family with a generic family (serif, sans-serif, monospace) so text renders if the primary font fails to load.

What font-size should body text use?

1rem (16px) is the standard. 1.125rem for editorial, 1rem for interfaces, 0.875rem for dense data UIs.

Why is my typography inconsistent?

Mixed units, missing line-height, or too many font-families. Use a scale and stick to one or two families.
