HTML Font Preview Generator

Generate a complete HTML document with a font embedded — Google Fonts preconnect, stylesheet link, CSS rules, and sample text. Copy the whole document, save it as .html, and open it in a browser to see exactly how the font renders.

How to use the HTML preview generator

  1. Enter a Google Font family name (for example Inter or Playfair Display).
  2. Add the weights you want to test, separated by semicolons.
  3. Enter your sample text and font size.
  4. Copy the generated HTML, save it to a .html file, and open it in your browser.
Testing real content: Use your actual headline text or body copy — not lorem ipsum. Different words reveal different rendering issues: descenders (g, j, p, q, y), ascenders (b, d, h, k, l), and spacing problems show up clearly in real content.

Frequently asked questions

What does the generated HTML include?

A complete <!DOCTYPE html> document with preconnect tags, Google Fonts stylesheet link, an inline CSS rule that uses the font, and a sample element containing your text at your chosen size.

Can I use a self-hosted font instead of Google Fonts?

Not in this generator. For self-hosted fonts, use the @font-face Generator to build the CSS rule, then paste it into your document.

Why does the preview show a different font than expected?

If the family name is misspelled, the browser falls back to the default. If the font is not on Google Fonts, it will not load — only Google Fonts hosted families work here.

Does the generated HTML include font-display: swap?

Yes, the Google Fonts URL includes &display=swap. This is the correct default for reading text.
