What actually changes during conversion
A TTF file is a bare sfnt container: 12-byte header, a table directory, and uncompressed table data. WOFF v1 wraps the same tables with a new 44-byte header and a per-table directory that stores original length, compressed length, and checksum. Each table is individually compressed with zlib DEFLATE.
This tool performs that transform correctly. The resulting file will be accepted by @font-face and by font tools — no byte-for-byte renaming is involved.
